On Friday night I went for dinner with the gorgeous ladies I’ll be climbing Kilimanjaro with. Meeting everyone has really got me excited about the trip but also makes it all feel much more real. We now have our training plans, which along with plenty of hours on the stairmaster includes fitting in long hikes whenever possible.
I’ve got so much planned for the run up to Christmas that its really important I fit in walks whenever I can. Luckily the weather this weekend has been absolutely perfect for getting out and enjoying a walk. Cool, sunny and bright with so much colour. We followed a circular walk from Hawkley to Steep (clue is in the name) and back again, mostly following Hangers Way on the way back, which was incredibly muddy!
Probably the hardest part of the walk was the steep climb up Shoulder of Mutton hill but we were treated to stunning views over the South Downs as we made our way up.
It took us just under 4 hours to complete our walk before heading home, lighting the fire and enjoying some hot chocolate with some tasty pulled pork in the slow cooker bubbling away – all the hygge vibes going on. Sometimes, and I admit happens more rarely than I would like, we pull off a perfect chilled out Sunday.
Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday.
